Honey Buzzard Day (Bivråkens Dag) was arranged for the first time in 1992 with the situation in the Mediterranean in focus. One of its purposes is to spread information on the threats migratory birds face, not just the Honey Buzzard, when overflying the Mediterranean. Another purpose is to show the fantastic bird migration that takes place over the Falsterbo peninsula in late summer and autumn to all bird lovers, experts as well as novices.

Honey Buzzard Day takes place on Sunday 5th September between 10 am and 2 pm just a stone’s throw from Falsterbo Bird Show, at the large heath called Skanörs ljung or Ljungen. No entrance fee.

Bird guide Christian Cederroth, one of Sweden’s most well-known birders, will alert visitors to the migrating birds and talk about their lives. The Swedish BirdLife partner SOF and BirdLife Malta will talk about their conservation activities and a raffle with proceeds to conservation will take place.

Welcome to Ljungen and join the migrating birds of prey!
